CBD and ADHD in Children
What is ADHD?
Attention Deficit and Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is a developmental phenomenon that affects about 5-7% of children due to various factors. More than a third of ADHD symptoms persist even into adulthood.
The physiological cause of ADHD is most commonly found in various pregnancy or childbirth traumas, genetics, or psychotraumatic conditions within the family. The most common cause of ADHD is adolescence, with a third continuing after the age of 25. About 30% of people ADHD pass spontaneously.
ADHD & CBD Oil: is Cannabidiol safe for children?
There have been many cases in recent years and there have been positive results with the use of cannabidiol (CBD) to manage Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). This has prompted scientists to embark on more serious research into CBD oil and its potential use in children with ADHD. Although much research remains to be done and the initial results are promising.
The potential benefits of CBD oil are well documented when it comes to chronic pain and anxiety, but when it comes to conditions affecting children and their health, such as ADHD, the research landscape becomes a bit bleak. However, more and more parents are beginning to consider CBD oil as a sensible, natural way to help their children relieve the symptoms of ADHD.

How does CBD oil affect ADHD?
Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder is one of the most commonly diagnosed mental health problems for children worldwide. It often includes a range of disturbing behavioral symptoms, including inability to concentrate, impulsivity and hyperactivity.
Given the prevalence of ADHD and the side effects associated with traditional medicines, it is not surprising that parents are looking for alternative therapies, such as CBD oil.
CBD and THC are the most discussed phytocannabinoids from the Cannabis plant. Although both have therapeutic benefits, CBD is a more popular choice for medical use because it has no intoxicating properties – in other words, CBD will not make you ‘’high’’.
CBD oil interacts with the body’s endocannabinoid system by affecting various receptors, including those that regulate inflammation and pain. But the effect of CBD oil is not limited only to the endocannabinoid system; CBD can also have an indirect effect on other areas of the body.
CBD oil affects not only cannabinoid receptors but also serotonin and dopamine receptors. CBD oil works to prevent the reuptake of these neurotransmitters, reducing anxiety levels and fighting insomnia. Studies have shown that increasing sleep and reducing anxiety alone can actually help relieve symptoms of ADHD.
